random as they may be, each of the posts before this one was interesting to write. its strange to see what comes to mind when i’m just sitting in front of my computer thinking of something to write about. it is also shocking for me to realize that after two sentences i have forty words. it is done.
i remember one day during the summer i was up before noon on my day off from work for some reason and i decided it was a good idea to watch the little mermaid cartoon and a lion king cartoon about the pig and the rat (i can’t recall their names). i was quite disturbed by these cartoons. the pig’s name is pumba and the rat’s name is timone i just looked it up. the little mermaid cartoon was about a demonic being from the depths of the ocean that had a monster that eats your imagination. can you imagine a small child watching a mermaid’s brain be eaten by satan’s pet monster? it would be absolutely terrifying; i couldn’t believe what i was seeing. then the timone and pumba show comes on and the pig pumba is trying to hook up with a HUMAN female. his attemptes are thwarted by a bear that already has the HUMAN woman’s affections. ….a pig and a woman….a bear and a woman…thats just gross. so i watch two disney shows and one is about a satanic brain-eating monster and the other is about bestiality. no wonder i’m so messed up growing up with that kind of sick cartoon influence.
one of my friends on my floor recently got a device that lets you hook up a super nintendo controller to your computer through the usb port. his addiction to old nintendo games came back to him just like the addiction he had when he was little. one time my friend and i were watching him play zelda and to my shock they both knew where all the little secrets in the game were despite the fact that neither of them had played it in about 7 or 8 years. i was shocked at how both of them were telling each other that he knew the right way to do certain things over his good friend’s technique. its strange how we can remember things about video games so clearly and i still can barely remember chemistry
my sister is the biggest atheist ever. she loves being an atheist, much to the dismay of our mother, and loves flaunting it over people. i was watching an episode of south park in which all the people of the world are atheists in the future and cartman has to interact with them in order to get a nintendo wii which by this point is ancient. anyway all the atheists on the show basically replace all common phrases that have god in it with science. for example they say oh my science, science damn you, and for the love of science. i told my sister about this little episode and it became a running joke between the two of us. well one day during class she used the phrases several times and all the people in the class looked at her like she was out of her mind. she attempted to tell these other students it was a joke about being an atheist, but no one seemed to understand and she was ridiculed. i laughed very hard at this.
rap music is the bane of my earthly existence. i hate that a person speaking over noise is considered music and that it is extremely popular. if i wanted to listen to a person speak over noise i would have a conversation next to a busy street. what ever happened to someone learning how to play an instrument and getting a bunch of other people who played instruments together and making music as opposed to one person standing in a box speaking out some ridiculous rhyme and then having a computer create an obnoxious beat to go along with it. how can these people be considered talented or artists?
i watched some foreign music videos with my friend and my roommate the other night and i have to say they were quite bizarre. cultures are so different its shocking. i just remember thinking how can this make sense to these people. i mean i don’t really find most of the music videos of this country to make sense, but these were really out there. i couldn’t even recreate what happened or make a guess as to what this man in the music video was doing. not to mention i don’t really think that a lot of the noises he was making were really words in his language, unless some languages really consist of strange clicks.
for all you conservatives out there let me tell you that i really really hate most of you. how can it be that after millions of years of evolution people are still so stupid. i am probably one of the most liberal people ever except when it comes to abortion which i think is vile, other than that i’m a dirty liberal hippie and proud of it. i love america, but not the fascist regime that runs the country. the joke of a republic that we are supposed to be passing off as a democratic state is in my opinion completely broken. while i have nothing against religion or christianity more specifically, i think it has absolutely no place in government. people can still live morally and not be christian or any other religion, shocking i know.
i haven’t had a decent meal in weeks due to my inability to spend money on anything but drinks for the weekend and the horrendous slop they force me to eat every day. i miss food that i can buy for myself and cook the way it should be made. this mass production of slop in the “dining halls” is the way livestock should be fed not civilized human beings. i miss eating authentic food from real restaurants.
my interest in wine led me to the subject of perfumery on wikipedia. while wikipedia is not the most reliable source i do think that its a good place to get general information. it turns out that perfumery is extremely complex much like wine tasting. the perfumer must be able to recognize hundreds on individual smells and know how to get them naturally or synthetically. a perfumer is told the feelings in which the scent should emit and then he or she comes up with several different fragrances that he or she feels evokes these feelings. the perfume is also made of different tones and layers which help to sell the perfumes. things that evaporate quickly are what are made to reel in customers, then the scents that evaporate much slower and give of a deeper scent are what give a person his or her distinct smell much later on. the process is much more in depth than i could ever have imagined.
i had a wine seminar the other day through a gentleman initiative. while i already knew everything my brother had to say it got me thinking about wine. most people cannot tell the difference between a good merlot and the undrinkable swill they are served because it has been oxidized from being opened and closed for the past two days. while i am by no means an expert on wine i have found it very interesting. becoming a sommelier is one of the most difficult things a person can do. these wine stewards train for years and years before even attempting the exam and even then very few pass. the world of wine experts is extremely exclusive, but i think it would be awesome if someone i knew made it in.
